Abstract
Historic urban markets represent dynamic socio-economic systems whose creative and experiential potential remains underutilized without a clear understanding of the economic structures that shape their development. This study aims to analyze the economic drivers influencing the dynamics of creative tourism in the Historic Bazaar of Tabriz, a UNESCO World Heritage site with significant cultural and commercial capacities. A quantitative research design based on social positivism was employed, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to 385 participants, including economic actors, creative entrepreneurs, managers, and visitors. Reliability and construct validity were established using Cronbach’s alpha and confirmatory factor analysis, and causal relationships were tested through structural equation modeling. The results showed that investment (β=0.82), sustainable employment (β=0.81), creative entrepreneurship (β=0.79), and financial infrastructures (β=0.74) were the strongest predictors within the economic driver construct. In the creative tourism economy, the creative economy (β=0.76) and heritage–economy–tourism collaboration (β=0.72) had the highest effects. Regarding tourism dynamics, social impacts (β=0.86), tourist satisfaction (β=0.81), economic impacts (β=0.79), environmental impacts (β=0.78), and cultural impacts (β=0.71) all demonstrated significant positive relationships. These findings indicate that enhancing creative tourism dynamics in the Tabriz Bazaar requires strengthening financial infrastructures, fostering local investment, supporting creative entrepreneurship, and establishing coordinated mechanisms among heritage, economic, and tourism sectors. The resulting framework offers practical insights for sustainable development and policy planning in historic urban markets.
